It isn’t just Lone Star State rodeo fanatics that visited the beloved San Antonio event’s first day, but cowpokes from Argentina, Australia and Mexico too.

SAN ANTONIO — Let’s Rodeo, San Antonio!

Thursday marked Night 1 of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, gearing up for more than 1 million visitors visiting the Frost Bank Center grounds over the next two weeks in their boots and Stetsons. 

Since 1949, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has awarded more than $267 million in scholarships benefitting more than 19,000 youth every year. It’s thanks in part to the dedication of more than 6,000 volunteers.

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is the first time many people get to see livestock in person. We began our night at the petting zoo to get “up close and personal.” 

After that, we learned just how popular the rodeo is for visitors from around the world.
