The Breakouts are presented in partnership with Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

Keira Jang’s star is rising, and for good reason. Last year, the Vancouver-based actor turned heads with her first-ever film performance in Can I Get a Witness—an apocalyptic science-fiction drama in which the world is so resource-strapped that technology and travel are essentially banned. The movie premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival to widespread acclaim.

Co-starring alongside national treasure Sandra Oh, Jang proved herself to be a formidable talent, bringing nuance and depth to her big-screen debut.

Landing the role was a dream come true, but Jang initially had no idea that the audition held so much career-boosting potential for her.

“It was one of those auditions that seemed small at first—like a student film,” she recalls. “When the director called to meet for coffee and mentioned Sandra Oh was already cast, I realized just how big this opportunity was.”
