Residents of Quinte West and the Prince Edward County communities of Consecon and Carrying Place can finally drink their water straight from the tap again after a boil water advisory was lifted on the weekend.
The advisory, put in place on Feb. 6 following a water main break, was issued for all Trenton Water Service customers, including Murray Ward, Carrying Place, Prince Edward Estates, Kingfisher Cove, and Carrying Place/Consecon.
The advisory was lifted by the South East Health Unit Saturday and all affected residents can resume normal use of municipal drinking water without bringing it to a boil.
The precautionary boil water advisory was implemented as a result of an emergency shutdown to repair a critical watermain break in Trenton.
Prince Edward County officials confirmed that sampling in both the Consecon/Carrying Place and Trenton drinking water system meets provincial water quality standards and is safe to drink and use.
