Porch fire in Whitby, Ontario declared arson [Video]

Police are appealing for witnesses after a porch fire deemed arson in Whitby early Tuesday morning.

Police responded to an arson call at Rivers Edge Place and Fairmount Drive at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday. Officers arrived on scene and found an active fire on the front porch of a residence. Police used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire and discovered a small container filled with an ignitable fluid on the porch. A window of the residence was also broken.

There were no injuries reported.

Police are asking for any witnesses or those with video footage, including dash cam or home surveillance, to contact investigators.
