The city’s website touts the “innovative construction technique” sued to repair the eastern portion of the Gardiner Expressway.

The consultant firm that’s at the centre of a $36-million lawsuit by the city for its repair work on the Gardiner Expressway had landed several previous contracts for work on the road, with the city’s website even touting the “innovative construction technique” the company helped design for the section that’s subject of the dispute.

The city is seeking damages, alleging that WSP Canada — a Montreal-based firm with projects across the globe — mishandled the designs for repair work on the Gardiner between Jarvis and Cherry Streets, according to a notice of action filed with the Ontario Superior Court.
