BELCOURT, N.D. (Valley News Live) – An Indigenous Activist, convicted in the killings of two FBI agents in 1975, is set to be released from prison Tuesday.

According to family members, Leonard Peltier will return home to Belcourt that night.

Former President Joe Biden commuted Peltier’s sentence during one of his final acts in office. Biden’s commute means Peltier can live out his days in home confinement.

Peltier was serving a life sentence in connection to the deadly stand off on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
