How passengers survived the Toronto plane crash [Video]

While the investigation is still early, J. Joseph, a retired military and airline pilot, said there are a couple of reasons that contributed to everyone surviving.

TORONTO, ON — As videos of passengers exiting the Delta plane that crashed in Toronto, Canada, many people are wondering how they were able to walk out. 

“It’s nothing short of miraculous that everyone survived,” said J. Joseph, a retired military and airline pilot.

Joseph’s company Joseph Aviation Consulting has more than 40 years of aviation accident investigation reconstruction, and analysis. He’s an aviation accident investigator and has worked on hundreds of aircraft accident/incident investigations.

“Had some of the dynamics changed just a little bit, we wouldn’t be talking about 80 people surviving a mishap,” Joseph said.

While it’s early into the investigation, Joseph can point to a couple of reasons why everyone on board survived.

“The fact that the fuselage itself stayed intact greatly enhanced the survivability rate,” Joseph said.
