West Lake beaches, Prince Edward County

A property recently used as a trailer park on the south shore of Prince Edward County’s popular West Lake could soon be home to the area’s newest tourist resort if an application at Wednesday’s planning and development committee gets the go-ahead.

West Lake Lodge Ltd. (Dunes Lookout Resort) is looking to build twenty two-bedroom villas, a guest amenity building and dock resort for the guests and a bike café that will be open to the public at 1874 County Road 12, which is just north of the County Road 12-County Road 18 intersection.

The proposed Zoning Bylaw Amendment would rezone the lands from Rural to Tourist Commercial Zone and Special Tourist Commercial Holding Zone.

Existing buildings include three cottages, a two-unit house, one washroom building, five sheds and one barn. The property borders Christ Church Lane to the south and Mayne Lane to the north. Both are private gravel single …
