As Ontario remains the largest hub for sex trafficking in Canada, a new report has revealed how parents are struggling to keep up with digital risks for their children.

Covenant House — a Toronto-based youth centre — published a report today highlighting how caregivers are behind the curve when spotting the dangers of dangerous online environments.

A notion experts deem as concerning, as Ontario remains an incredibly active trafficking environment.

“Case numbers for sexual exploitation and trafficking are on the rise in Toronto, with Ontario being the biggest hub for sex trafficking in the country,” said Detective Richard Shaw, with the Toronto Police Services Human Trafficking Enforcement Unit in an official statement. “It’s concerning to watch the sexual exploitation of children, often online, increase so rapidly over the past 36 months.
