A Delta Junction woman has been sentenced to probation after a dangerous incident involving military aircraft. She admitted to pointing a high-powered laser at helicopters, injuring multiple crew members.

It happened near Allen Army Airfield on February 11, 2024. According to court documents, Canadian military aircrews were conducting a tactical exercise when one of the pilots reported being repeatedly hit with a green laser while flying at about 4,200 feet.

The aircraft remained in a holding pattern for nearly 20 minutes, and each time it passed over a specific cabin, crew members saw the laser. When the helicopters descended to land, they were hit again.

Troopers traced the laser to 49-year-old Heide Goodermote. When confronted, she admitted she was angry and believed the helicopters had no right to fly over her property. Authorities later seized the Class IIIB laser, which is powerful enough to cause serious eye damage or skin …
