Health Canada has issued a recall for specific lots of Kids by Babyganics SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Totally Tropical (both rollerball and continuous spray formulas) due to the presence of an impurity exceeding allowable limits.

The recall, initiated by SC Johnson & Son, Inc., warns that the affected products may pose potential health risks.

What is the issue?An impurity known as monoglyme (1,2-dimethoxyethane), a solvent that can be absorbed through the skin or inhaled, was found in the products at concerning levels. Frequent use over a large surface area or inhalation may cause adverse health effects, including harm to fetal development and the reproductive system. While the likelihood of severe health consequences is low, Health Canada and SC Johnson are recalling the products as a precaution.
