Feb. 26 (UPI) — An Ontario couple collected a nearly $70,000 lottery prize 12 years after they won the same amount from a different lottery game.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. said Burlington residents Nancy and Robert Whitten scored a prize of $69,712.16 when they matched the last six of the seven Encore numbers in the Dec. 21, 2024, Lotto 6-49 drawing.

The couple, who have been married for 41 years, previously won the same amount from an Instant Cashword ticket in 2012.

“We were at home together when I scanned our Lotto 6-49 ticket using the OLG app,” Nancy told OLG officials. “Robert was sitting right beside me when I discovered we’d won. It didn’t seem real! In fact, I checked our ticket three times to make sure I was seeing things correctly. We were so shocked.”
