Town rallies to save cat from rooftop in Ontario [Video]

First responders and residents have rescued a cat from a dangerous rooftop scenario today in Ontario. 

During a routine foot patrol today in the northern Ontario town of Hearst, at 1:30 p.m., police officers were abruptly called upon by a concerned citizen who claimed a distressed cat trapped on a rooftop, police say. 

Upon arriving on the scene, police and a gathering distressed crowd of townsfolk observed a cat being attacked by a circling group of ravens. 

Upon realizing the immediate danger the cat was in, a coordinated effort between officers and municipal workers took place. 

After calling in a bucket truck to the scene, city workers raised the vehicle’s bucket to the rooftop, where the cat then lept to immediate safety. 

Police say that a rookie OPP officer with the James Bay detachment —  starting her first day on the job — observed the joint effort.
