Heavy rain is expected this week in southern Ontario.

After bitter cold this weekend, warmer temperatures are expected this week but also heavy precipitation. A Colorado Low is expected to move into Ontario on Wednesday bringing heavy snow and rain.

Between 10 to 25 mm of rain could fall in southern Ontario on Wednesday in the GTA and across southern Ontario, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Areas north of cottage country could see 15 to 25 cm of snow on Wednesday. Lake-effect snow off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay is expected on Thursday.

The GTA should see milder temperatures as the rain arrives. A high of 5 C is forecast for Tuesday in Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto, Burlington and Oakville. Durham Region could be cooler with a high of 4 C.

The temperature could reach 7 C on Wednesday in the GTA. Hamilton temperatures could hit 11 C while Durham Region’s high is 5 C on Wednesday.
