March 5 weather: Thunderstorms and up to 25 mm of rain coming to southern Ontario [Video]

It will be a wet day across southern Ontario with thunderstorms, fog and up to 25 mm of rain expected in some areas.

Environment Canada says there could be between 10 mm to 25 mm of rainfall depending on where you are in the province.

The day will start with showers and periods of drizzle, but there’s a risk of thunderstorms later in the afternoon in Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto, Oshawa and Durham Region, the agency says.

In the GTA you can expect between 10 mm to 20 mm of rainfall while Durham, Peterborough, Cobourg and elsewhere could see up to 25 mm.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for much of southern Ontario saying flooding in low-lying areas and pooling water on roads is possible.
