Outgoing Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau spoke to US President Donald Trump directly in his public statement on 25% tariffs, that came into force on March 4. He attacked the US for its growing proximity with Russia and outlined recourse measures by filing dispute resolution claims in WTO and through USMCA, the trade pact signed by US, Canada and Mexico in 2018 under Trump’s first administration. He also asked provinces to implement non-tariff measures, saying ‘there is no winner’ in a trade war.
