Drivers are being urged to take precautions as dense fog has led to “near zero visibility” on roads and highways across the GTA and southern Ontario.

Environment Canada issued a fog advisory for a large portion of the province stretching from Kingston to Bellville which includes Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton and Hamilton, as well as the Durham and Milton regions and north of the GTA.

The agency says visibility is significantly reduced to near-zero in some areas due to the dense fog.

The fog is expected to clear after midnight as strong northwesterly winds blow into the area, but Environment Canada says to be careful on the roads until the weather passes.

“If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop,” the agency says.

There is also a special weather statement issued for the GTA and southern Ontariowith another 15 mm of rain possible …
