How are business owners and customers in San Angelo handling the tariffs’ impacts?

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Despite the 25% tariffs on most Mexican and Canadian imports being paused the 10-20% tariffs on China remain in effect. And that’s causing concern among business owners and consumers alike across the United States, including here in West Texas.

Seventy-nine percent of all toys are manufactured in China and with the recently enacted tariffs, shoppers like Alejandra Velado, are expecting quite the sticker shock.

“Especially because , like with Christmas shopping and stuff like that, so many people are going to, like, so many stores, buying toys and stuff like that so yeah I think it’ll like, throw some people off,” she said.

But that’s already the case for stores, like San Angelo’s Pixel Junkie, specializing in electronics and other pop culture items.
