Liberal leader candidate Mark Carney stops in Milton on Friday.

Carney, former finance minister Chrystia Freeland, former House leader Karina Gould and former MP Frank Baylis are vying to become the next Liberal leader after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau resigned in January.

Carney stops in Milton for a meet and greet at Elevate – Milton’s Premier Sports and Recreation Centre on Friday at 2:30 p.m. But the event was at capacity by Friday morning, according to Carney’s website. 

Polls suggest Carney, former Bank of Canada and Bank of England governor, is the front-runner in the race. He has said he would increase the government’s spending on investments that grow the economy and create good jobs including on housing, clean energy and new trade routes to reduce Canada’s reliance on the United States.

The leadership race voting ends on March 9 at 3 p.m.
