The Trump Administration announced on Wednesday a one-month exemption for some U.S. automakers from the tariff’s imposed on Canada and Mexico. 

President Trump says his 25% tariffs on goods from Canada and Mexico will increase the United States’ wealth, but experts and Democratic lawmakers have warned the added cost could get passed on to American consumers. 

The Yale Budget Lab found that retaliatory tariffs could result in increased costs between $1,600 and $2,000 per household.

4 News Now’s Derek Deis spoke with Eastern Washington Representative Michael Baumgartner about his thoughts on the President’s tariffs and his address to Congress.
