Brad Marchand wasn’t merely the Boston Bruins’ captain and longest-tenured player. Only seven NHL players had been with their current teams longer — a group that includes future Hall of Famers Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby — than Marchand, who debuted with Boston on Oct. 21, 2009.

That tenure ended Friday, when the Bruins shockingly traded Marchand to the Eastern Conference rival Florida Panthers in a deadline-day stunner.

Marchand, 36, has 422 goals and 976 points in 1,090 career games, all with Boston. He has 21 goals and 47 points through 61 games this season.
