186 break-and-enters over 31 days in Mississauga and Brampton, Ontario [Video]

There were more than 180 break-and-enters over the last 31 days in Mississauga and Brampton.

According to Peel Regional Police data, there were 186 incidents from Feb. 6 to March 8.

Both cities saw their fair share of crimes related to break-ins, with 113 of these incidents happening in Mississauga and the other 73 in Brampton.

This is a 12 per cent increase compared to the same time last month when 166 incidents were recorded.

The map below shows where these incidents took place:

The data further indicates that the following places were targeted:

81 houses, six apartments, two residential garages or sheds, 17 restaurants, three construction sites, one school, 19 stores, three gas stations, two offices, and one pharmacy; eight were simply listed as “other,” and 43 were “unidentified” businesses.

The top common hotspots for these break-ins this month were:

  • Hurontario Street—three occurrences
  • Lakeshore Road—six occurrences
  • Mississauga Road—three occurrences
  • Queen Street—11 occurrences
  • Steeles Ave—three occurrences
