If you live in Greensboro, you may want to pay closer attention to what you’re putting in your recycling bin. The city is implementing smart cameras on recycling trucks to detect non-recyclable materials as part of its new Smart Camera Recycling Pilot Program.City Waste Reduction Supervisor Tori Emerson says 3 of Greensboro’s 10 recycling trucks are now equipped with advanced cameras that scan recycled materials as they are dumped into the truck.“The cameras that we have point to the hopper, and that is the spot where the cart actually dumps behind the truck,” she said. “And then the cameras will scan the photo of the materials as they fall into the cart.”Get the latest news stories of interest by clicking hereThe implementation of the smart cameras was made possible by a one-year grant and a partnership between the city, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, and the Canada-based technology …
