The discovery of a body in the charred remains of a block of buildings in Bowmanville’s historic downtown has meant an outpouring of sadness and support for the family of the still unidentified victim.
One resident had been unaccounted for since the fire swept through a block of King Street from 59-95 King St. w. in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Despite speculation on social media that the resident was out of town when the fire broke out, crews from the Ontario Fire Marshalls Office discovered the body Monday.
“Our community stands in profound shock and deep sorrow.
