A child is fighting for life in hospital after being hit by a bus while riding a Lime e-bike in south London.

The collision on Surrey Quays Road, near Canada Water, early yesterday evening triggered a major emergency response, with police, paramedics and an air ambulance scrambled to the scene.

The boy, whose age has not yet been confirmed, was tended to at the scene before being rushed to a major trauma centre in a critical condition. His family has been informed.

A witness said: ‘It was absolutely horrifying. Emergency crews were working desperately to help the child.

‘The road was shut down very quickly and you could tell something very serious had happened.’

The bus driver, a woman, was spoken to at the scene and is understood to be badly shaken.
