As calls for tariffs and tensions in trade wars continue, Southern Oregon’s lifeblood, the wine making community, is preparing for the effects of these tariffs on the industry.

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — As calls for tariffs and tensions in trade wars continue, Southern Oregon’s lifeblood, the wine making community, is preparing for the effects of these tariffs on the industry.

“There might be a need to increase the bottle price,” said Dana Campbell owner Patrick Flannery.

The tariffs would increase the price of producing wine, with many winemakers getting their supplies from Mexico, China or Canada. In 2019, similar tariffs went into effect. Those in the wine industry said instead of strengthening American supply chains, it just increased their prices to match the inflated tariff induced price.
