A Sutton man certainly made the job of local police easier when he was found sleeping in a stolen car with a loaded gun in Pickering early Thursday morning.

His car was parked blocking a residential driveway as well, prompting the call to police in the first place.

Durham Police responded to the call near Skyridge Boulevard and Sapphire Drive in the Seaton neighbourhood at 6:20 a.m. Thursday for a vehicle blocking a driveway.

Officers arrived and found Prayer Osakpemwehuan, 21, asleep in the driver’s seat. A brief investigation discovered the vehicle was stolen and the man was placed in custody.

The loaded gun and ammunition was also seized.

Osakpemwehuan is charged with five firearm-related offenses, including possession of a loaded weapon and possession of a gun obtained by crime.

He was held for bail hearing.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Cst. Ponrajah of West Division at 905-579-1520 ext 2426.
