Recount results official: Conservatives hold on to Mississauga provincial riding [Video]

Now it’s official.

The recount of votes in the Ontario riding of Mississauga-Erin Mills confirms that Progressive Conservative Sheref Sabawy has been re-elected as MPP.

Elections Ontario has confirmed the outcome of the recount which was held becuase of the narrow margin of victory achieved by Sabawy during last month’s provincial election.

This time Sabawy gained three votes with the final count being 16,694 for Sabawy compated to Liberal Qasir Dar who had 16,671 ballots cast in his favour.

It also means means that Premier Doug Ford’s party was again able to sweep all six ridings in Mississauga for the third straight election.

Sabawy has served as MPP in the riding since 2018.

He previously was the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport from 2019 to 2023, and the Parliamentary Assistant to Ontario’s Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery from 2023 to 2024.
