VIDEO: Driver clocked at more than 200 km/h on Ontario highway [Video]

A 19-year-old Whitby man is facing careless driving and stunt driving charges after a vehicle was clocked at speeds in excess of 200 km/h on Highway 401 Thursday evening.

Air1 was in the skies over the west side of Durham Region at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday when two vehicles were spotted eastbound travelling at a “high rate of speed” approaching the Ajax-Whitby border at Lakeridge Road.

Both vehicles were travelling at speeds more than 200 km/h though the video from the police helicopter showed just the one car being tracked as it neared Brock Street in Whitby, with the pilot asking for any units available.

“It’s good to go for a dangerous opp.”

It is unclear where the vehicle exited the highway but he was eventually pulled over and arrested on Taunton Road near Coronation Street in Whitby’s north end.

The whereabouts of the other driver involved is unknown.
