Students in the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will have to take steps to make sure they are well covered in the future.
The board recently adopted new rules to ensure adherence to dress code policies with the expectation that not too much skin is revealed, especially when it comes to the shoulders of female students.
In Dufferin-Peel, students at all high schools in the system must wear school uniforms, but not those in elementary grades. However, it is the attire of the older students that has raised eyebrows at some school events.
As part of the changes, dress code expectations will now require that students cover the area from the top of their shoulders to mid-thigh. Previously the expectation was that clothing had to cover the upper part of the torso and down to mid-thigh.
