One woman’s ambitious plan to turn a small, cluttered cupboard into a fully functional office space has gone viral on TikTok, drawing viewers’ admiration—and some skepticism.

TikToker Bessie (@atbessies) shared a video of the transformation, which has amassed 919,000 views since it was posted on March 16. A caption shared with the post reads: “Everyone laughed when I said I wanted to turn this messy cupboard into a tiny office space!”

With the rise of remote work and space optimization, many homeowners are rethinking their living spaces to accommodate new needs—including turning unexpected corners of their homes into functional workspaces.

Home renovation spending in the United States has surged in recent years. According to a survey by home design website Houzz, the median renovation spend increased by 60 percent from 2020 to 2023, rising from $15,000 to $24,000.
