Durham Regional Police shut down a sophisticated speakeasy in downtown Oshawa Sunday after receiving multiple complaints from nearby residents.

Officers from the Central East Community Resource Unit wrapped up an investigation into the public complaints by executing a search warrant and raiding the after-hours bar at 20 Bond. St. W, arresting a Toronto man and seizing point-of-sale terminals, cash and an “extensive amount.”

Mustafa Popal, 33, of Toronto is charged with unlawfully possessing and selling liquor under the Liquor Licence Act.

He was released on a summons to appear.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Jones of the Central East Community Resource Unit at 905-579-1520 ext. 2403.
