Ontario Premier Doug Ford invoked former US President Ronald Reagen to take a swipe at Trump tariffs. He said protectionism is a ‘cheap form of nationalism,’ quoting Reagen’s speech. Ford was speaking at the swearing-in of his new cabinet after winning a third term. Ford has emerged as one of the staunchest critics of Trump tariffs among Canadian leaders, even threatening energy surcharges on New York and other cities. US President Donald Trump threatens to impose 25% tariffs on Canada on April 2.
