A video released by Durham Regional Police’s auto theft unit shows one of the 11 suspects arrested this month for a string of thefts in Durham Region attempting to steal a truck in January.

Mohamed Naouai, 18, of Quebec, was arrested the next month by another police service when he was in possession of another stolen vehicle. He was placed on conditions which he breached in March when Durham police officers responded to a stolen vehicle in progress call.

After a brief foot pursuit with the K9 Unit, Naouai was arrested and held for bail.

Naouai was one of 11 people – all from Quebec – charged with more than 160 offences – after police executed a search warrant at two Toronto residences on March 13.

Durham Regional Police said in a statement the video “clearly demonstrates the great lengths these offenders will go to in order to evade police,” …
