The billboard reads, “Tariffs are a tax at the gas pump,” with a note at the bottom stating that Canada’s government paid for the ad.

CLEVELAND — Drivers along some of Cleveland’s busiest highways, including I-90, may notice new billboards pushing back against President Donald Trump’s latest tariffs. 

The advertisements, placed by Canadian interests, criticize the White House’s trade policies and warn of rising costs for American consumers.

The billboard reads, “Tariffs are a tax at the gas pump,” with a note at the bottom stating that the government of Canada paid for the ad.

The billboard campaign follows recent remarks by Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly, who stated that the ads aim to alert Americans to the financial impact of the tariffs, particularly on gas and groceries. 

John Babcock, a spokesperson for Global Affairs Canada released the following statement to 3News on the billboards:
