Possible tornado forecast for part of Ontario [Video]

In addition to ice storms, thunderstorms, snow and heavy rain, a tornado is now possible in one part of Ontario.

Intense wind gusts up to 100 km/h and a brief tornado are possible late Wednesday afternoon and evening for extreme southwestern Ontario, Environment and Climate Change Canada said on X.

Strong wind gusts up to 90 km/h are possible for parts of southwestern Ontario and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

The Greater Toronto Area is under two weather alerts on Wednesday for up to 50 mm of rain and a brief period of freezing rain in the afternoon.

Further north, freezing rain and rainfall warnings are also in place, advising of 20 to 40 mm of rain, with locally higher amounts, potentially higher than 50 mm.

In eastern parts of the province, including the Ottawa area, snowfall amounts of up to five cm could fall before a switch to freezing rain, Environment Canada said.
