PRINCE GEORGE British Columbia. (KPTV) – The Portland Winterhawks defeated the Prince George Cougars 4-2 in Game 7 of their series on Monday night to advance to the second round of the WHL Playoffs.
The Cougars bounced back from a 3-1 series deficit to force the winner-take-all Game 7 at the CN Centre.
After an early Cougars goal from Terik Parascak, Alex Weiermair tied the game for Portland 1-1, 12 minutes into the first period.
Kyle Chyzowski, who assisted on Weiermair’s goal, gave the Hawks their first lead midway through the second period.
After Lee Shurgot tied the game 2-2 for the Cougars five minutes into the third period, Josh Zakreski gave Portland the final advantage on a goal five minutes later, a lead they would hold for the remainder of the game.
