Train collides with semitruck, splitting trailer carrying grain in half [Video]

SLEEPY EYE, Minn. (KTTC/Gray News) – A collision between a semitruck and a train at a railroad crossing in Minnesota Friday resulted in the truck’s trailer being ripped in two.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office said the crash took place on Highway 14 east of Sleepy Eye.

Deputies arrived at the crash site around 2:15 p.m. Friday where they determined a 1996 IH Semi with a Wilson trailer had attempted to turn north toward a business when it was struck by a train managed by the Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railroad.

A 24-year-old was driving the semi with a 56-year-old and a 57-year-old was operating the train.

Officials did not report any major injuries. However, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office said minor injuries were treated on the scene for all three involved.

The Wilson trailer was a total loss while the train sustained some damage.
