A car used in the attempted robbery of a Burlington jewelry store was also the getaway vehicle for those involved in a failed carjacking in Brampton, Halton Regional Police say.

On Monday, four masked men dressed in black and armed with hammers went into the Burlington Centre and headed to Peoples Jewellers, but were confronted by a security guard.

While the guard’s presence was enough to scare off the gang, he did manage to catch one of the suspects and detained him until police arrived.

Officers say those who fled did so in a white Honda Civic. That vehicle has now been linked to an attempted carjacking that took place in a Brampton parking lot on March 31.

In that case, three men attacked the car owner, who managed to fight them off. The attackers then fled in the Honda.
