CLOSED & OPEN: Easter weekend in all southern Ontario cities and Toronto [Video]

In 2025, Good Friday falls on April 18, followed by Easter Sunday (April 20) and Easter Monday (April 21).

One of the holiest Christian holidays, Easter–also called Pascha or Resurrection Sunday–commemorates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans.

This long weekend, the LCBO, the Beer Store, banks, most libraries and non-emergency federal, provincial, regional and municipal offices and services will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, Hamilton and the Durham and Niagara regions. Some non-emergency services will also be unavailable on Easter Monday, and schools will be closed.

Over the long weekend, advance polling stations for the federal election will be open for residents who need or want to vote early.
