St. Louis police are searching for leads in the fatal shooting of Jesse Woods in the city’s Dutchtown neighborhood.

ST. LOUIS — St. Louis police are still looking for whoever shot and killed a man in Dutchtown on Sunday night.

Jesse Woods was only 37 years old when he died in the 8500 block of Alberta Street around 8:15 p.m.

“I can’t really wrap my head around the fact that the nicest, kindest person I know was killed,” friend Jill Hind said.

Hind and Sara Cheeney said they’ve been friends with Jesse Woods, also known as “Grim,” since they were kids growing up in Florissant.

“He was definitely the one that was always keeping us together and forgiving others and just really leading the way in how to treat other people,” Hind said.

Cheeney said when she lost her brother at only 15 years old, Woods and one of their other friends took on that role.
