Thunderstorm risk this Easter long weekend in southern Ontario [Video]

Those heading out for Easter outings this weekend may want to pack an umbrella and watch out for storms.

Above-normal temperatures are forecast but there is also a risk of a thunderstorm in the Greater Toronto Area.

After sunny skies on Thursday, temperatures are expected to climb to a high of 18 C on Good Friday in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Burlington, Oakville and Hamilton, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada. A high of 17 C is expected in Durham Region.

With the rise in temperature, there is a risk of a thunderstorm in the morning and afternoon. Showers will begin in the morning and end in the afternoon, according to Environment Canada. There is a 40 per cent chance of showers late in the afternoon. A low of around 15 C is expected in the evening.
