From pour to pride as concrete installed on major Ontario sports complex [Video]

Crews were busy in Whitby this month pouring concrete at one of the two ice pads at the $155 million Whitby Sports Complex under construction in the north end of town.

Workers were on site on Baldwin Street (just south of Highway 407 and the Brooklin community) pouring, raking, levelling and finishing the nearly three school busloads of concrete needed to complete the slab.

“We’re skating closer to the completion of this … new state-of-the-art space for inclusive sport, community programming, and unforgettable memories,” the Town of Whitby said this week in an update.

Construction timelines for structural steel, the building ‘envelope’ and underground foundations, geothermal drilling, mechanical and electrical infrastructure and parking lots were met last June.
