Police in an Ontario town say they have received “several reports” of election signs being stolen or damaged.

Ontario Provincial Police’s Huntsville detachment issued a news release on Tuesday about the incidents.

“In one instance, a volunteer putting up signs felt threatened by people challenging their activity,” the release said.

It’s illegal to interfere with election signs as well as threaten anyone who is legally posting election signs, OPP said.

OPP spokesperson Edward Warman told INsauga.com that no specific political party was targeted overall.

Warman said patrols were done, but there wasn’t any evidence or suspects to support further investigation.

He said several incidents were in the Utterson area of Huntsville, but it happened in other areas too.
