Hudson’s Bay extends liquidation sale to high-profile Ontario locations [Video]

Hudson’s Bay will liquidate merchandise at the six remaining locations that had not been part of the initial sell-off.

Three of the stores are in Quebec, while the high-profile Ontario locations are on Yonge Street in downtown Toronto, Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto and Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill.

The move comes as the beleaguered retail chain faces a deadline for purchase bids to be submitted.

North America’s oldest company, Hudson’s Bay, filed for creditor protection last month after falling $1 billion into debt and facing a continuing loss of revenue.

While 90 stores across the country had earlier begun the liquidation process, the remaining six were originally spared with the hope that a buyer would be found.

However, the company now believes it won’t be saved by an investor but will stop the liquidation if one is found.

The sales at the remaining stores will begin this Friday.
