Police arrested Cory Dewayne Horton for first-degree arson after a fire was set outside a Huntsville home.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A Huntsville man was arrested Wednesday night on charges of first-degree arson after a fire was deliberately set outside a home where a resident was inside.

According to Huntsville Police, 54-year-old Cory Dewayne Horton was taken into custody shortly after officers responded to a fire call on the 1400 block of Yukon Drive around midnight. Upon arrival, investigators determined that the fire had been intentionally set near a bedroom window, though it did not spread into the home. The fire caused minor damage to the exterior, and no injuries were reported.

The resident told officers she had argued with her boyfriend Horton earlier that evening. After leaving the home, Horton returned to retrieve his belongings, and shortly after he left again, the fire was reported.
