School threats lead to charges for youths in Ontario, police say [Video]

Police have charged a pair of youths after threats were made against a school in southern Ontario.

The incident happened on Wednesday when the OPP says officer learned about threats directed at a school in Prince Edward County, approximately 80 kilometres southwest of Kingston.

An investigation led police to search two locations in Prince Edward County and say two young people have been charged with uttering threats.

Police didn’t describe the nature of the threats.

Both accused were held for bail hearings, and their names can’t be released due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The incident has police reminding the public “to promptly report any threats or suspicious behavior related to school safety.”

“Reporting these incidents allows for immediate investigation and helps maintain a secure learning environment,” the OPP says.
