Rain and temperature drop to start the weekend weather in southern Ontario [Video]

Those heading out this weekend may want to bring an umbrella and a jacket—rain and a temperature are forecast in southern Ontario.

The temperature is expected to soar to above 20 C, possibly as high as 24 C in parts of the GTA on Thursday but cooler weather is expected on Friday.

A low-pressure system is expected to bring rain, possibly heavy at times, to the GTA on Friday and Saturday, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada. The Weather Network is forecasting up to 17 mm throughout the day on Friday.

Between 15 to 25 mm of rain is possible for central and northeastern Ontario on Friday, Environment Canada said.

A high of around 14 C and thunderstorms are forecast for Friday afternoon in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton and Niagara Region, according to Environment Canada.

Thunderstorms and a high of 10 C are expected in Halton Region, and a high of 17 C and rain are expected in Durham Region on Friday.
