“We’re excited to welcome him to the team and can’t wait to see him patrolling the streets of our city,” the police department wrote in a Facebook post.

TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Police Department has welcomed a new addition to its mounted patrol unit.

Henry the horse made his way to Florida from Canada. He was once in the running to become a Budweiser Clydesdale but was just a little too short, according to police.

Luckily, police say the beloved horse found his “true calling in public service.”

Henry now calls Tampa home thanks to a donation from retired Minneapolis Police Department officers — the Werners.

“We’re excited to welcome him to the team and can’t wait to see him patrolling the streets of our city,” the police department wrote in a Facebook post. “We’re proud to carry on the legacy of service with Henry by our side.”
