Thunderstorms could impact flights at Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga.

Pearson Airport officials said they are keeping an eye on the possible storms.

There is a risk of a thunderstorm Tuesday morning and a 70 per cent chance of showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon at Pearson Airport, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

The temperature high could reach 24 C but with the humidex, it could feel like 29 C, according to Environment Canada.

The Weather Network said there is a severe thunderstorm risk with a chance of supercells and a low tornado risk in southern Ontario on Tuesday.

If there is a threat of close lightning strikes at the airport, officials have a plan.

“When lightning is in the forecast, our teams closely monitor conditions and receive lightning alerts when strikes are detected within a 50 km, 15 km, and 8 km radius of the airport,” Pearson said on X.
